1. Last M3 Coupe. Come on, BMW: no one likes a heritage spoiler!
2. Last naturally aspirated M3. It sounds like a supercar (and not a diesel), revs to the moon, and makes its power where you want it in a sports car.
3. Only V8 M3 ever. It's such an odd combination that works so well, and is hinted at through muscular bodywork (also, its understated styling is lost on 2014 BMW).
4. Feels... there's hydraulic steering. In addition to a manual transmission, this makes the E92 M a really engaging car.

Probably one of the best OEM modifications out there.

I've heard it many times that the E9X M cars and other brands performance models built around this time are the last of the truly analog cars. Everything from here on out is going to be so tech heavy and videogame like. They will of course get stupidity fast with all that, but the car and the brilliant engineers who designed it are doing the work for you when you drive them.

Having owned both I will say the E46 is the better drivers car. It communicates everything it's doing, it's the right size, doesn't feel heavy, it's not too refined.
The E9X on the other hand has the better engine. Not knocking the S54 it's a fabulous engine too, but the S65 just sounds amazing. The E9X is a better car 90% of the time. The other 10% though the E46 experience is better.

I totally agree. I own both now and the E46 is more balanced and communicates the road better. It has the best steering feel of any front engine car with power steering that I've ever driven.
The E9X isn't as sharp. But dat engine. My god dat engine. And it's more luxurious so it's the better road car 90% of the time.

Have you watched EVO's Analogue Supercars video? While not a supercar, I feel like the E9x M3 is a "last of breed" like those are.

Word, but...
E90, because 2, 3 and 4 + four doors.
There are far fewer of them, and there will never be another car like it.

I prefer the E90 by a decent margin! It's just the fact that the E92 M3 was the last M3 coupe that got me thinking, hence the E92. The E90 M3 looks so badass.

I concur. Love walking up to this beautiful beast at the end of every day...
It's so dumb that they changed the name. At least they haven't gone and pulled some crap like Infiniti and Cadillac are doing with all their cars (not that the regular BMW model names mean anything anymore).
